Magic words

What can you say when you see a friend struggling? (Or yourself).

It’s okay, it’s alright, it will get better?

How do you know if it’s okay or getting better?

Try:

How are you?

I care about you, , you have be not been doing X lately, you said Y, how have you been feeling lately?

You been sleeping okay? You been eating okay? You been okay at work?

Do you have the skills and support to move to where you want to be?

Notes

People generally don’t want to be told what to do, it’s human nature to want control, support and to be able to grow/develop.

When we dictate, or ‘help’ we remove their ability to control and reduce how effective our support is… whilst stunting growth.
